Absurd Hero Finds a New Home at Viewmark

After its 2025 run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Absurd Hero is beginning its next chapter. The musical is now available through Viewmark, our media production site, giving audiences who weren’t able to join us in Edinburgh or who simply want to experience the show again a chance to watch the production online. This is also part of a larger move for our theatrical work. We’re beginning to bring our performance media together under Viewmark, creating a dedicated home for publishing full productions, performance videos, music, and other media from the shows we create and produce. Rather than letting a production disappear when the curtain comes down, Viewmark gives these works a place to continue reaching an audience.

Absurd Hero the Musical - 2025

Inspired by Albert Camus’ The Myth of Sisyphus, Absurd Hero throws Greek mythology, philosophy, politics, music and absurd comedy into one wonderfully strange contemporary world. Sid wants to make his community better, but first he'll have to contend with Zeus, Ari, Darby, Tony and a collection of modern-day gods who have very different ideas about power, love and purpose. Through original songs, dance and musical theatre choreography, Absurd Hero asks a deceptively simple question: How do we live meaningfully when life doesn't always make sense? The answer may be to keep loving, laughing, creating and pushing the rock uphill anyway. Music, Lyrics & Libretto by April Alsup.

Absurd Hero was created as a playful, musical exploration of Albert Camus, Sisyphus, and the wonderfully ridiculous question of how we find meaning in an absurd world. Its Edinburgh run was an important chapter in the show’s life, but as with any good piece of theatre the performance itself doesn’t have to be the end of the story. With Absurd Hero now on Viewmark, we’re taking another step toward making our theatrical productions available beyond the stage, preserving the work while opening the door to audiences wherever they happen to be.
